Melanie Roberts Profile
I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Since 2012 I have worked with individuals, couples and groups in both private practice and within charitable agencies and educational establishments in East Sussex .
I currently work with vulnerable adults and juveniles within the criminal justice system.
Other areas of my current work include facilitating support & therapy groups for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and their partners. More info about this charity can be found at www.eastbournesurvivors.org.
This group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month and the creative group on the 4th Tuesday of each month.
Working with survivors of sexual abuse is my specialist area and I am fully trained as a SARC counsellor ( pre-trial counselling). All enquiries will be dealt with sensitively and confidentially and all of your options can be explained and considered.
In addition to the above I am an ASIST qualified counsellor ( suicide intervention ) and have worked with the NHS Sussex Partnership via an agency in Hastings to help those who suffer from suicidal feelings and seasonal disorders.
Prior to 2012 I volunteered for 4 years as a bereavement counsellor for St Wilfrid’s Hospice and CRUSE. I have extensive experience (and qualifications) in loss and bereavement including pets which can be so under-estimated by others . Loss can be in many forms - jobs, health, children leaving home, identity , relationship breakdowns, and many others. I can help you through these difficult times - restoring hope and a zest for the future is the aim of the work which we would do together.
In my work experience I have spent many years in advertising and high pressured sales environments. I can help business people to find a good work -life balance and reduce stress and anxiety levels. I have also worked with many retired people who have felt restless and unhappy about the future. Loss of self-esteem can affect our daily lives in a devastating way.
I use many counselling techniques within therapy - we are all individuals and that is why I sometimes use creative therapy such as objects or pictures or stones.
